Perreo 101® Brings the History of Reggaeton to Gap Inc. Headquarters in New York City with Exclusive A/V Experience

New York, NY — Perreo 101®, the acclaimed reggaeton history platform founded by reggaeton historian La Gata, returned to the headquarters of Gap Inc. in New York City on October 12, 2024 for an exclusive in-person Perreo 101® A/V Experience, marking a groundbreaking collaboration between a global apparel company and a cultural education platform dedicated to reggaeton history.
The partnership grew out of a successful private online lecture hosted by Gap Inc. in 2022. After the overwhelmingly positive response from employees, the company invited La Gata to bring the experience directly to its New York City headquarters for a live, immersive presentation.
The event transformed the traditional lecture format into a dynamic cultural experience. La Gata DJ’ed live while guiding attendees through the origins and evolution of reggaeton, blending storytelling with carefully curated archival visuals and the sounds that shaped the genre. The presentation traced reggaeton’s underground beginnings, its Caribbean roots, and its emergence as a global cultural force influencing music, fashion, and youth culture.
“This was about bringing the history of the music into the room in a way people could feel,” said La Gata, founder of Perreo 101®. “Reggaeton is a living culture. The Perreo 101® A/V Experience represents the first partnership of its kind to merge reggaeton music history education with a major global fashion brand’s internal cultural programming.
