Perreo 101® founder and reggaeton historian La Gata partnered with Gap Inc. for a groundbreaking cultural experience at the company’s headquarters in New York City. After a successful private online lecture in 2022, the global apparel brand invited Perreo 101® back for an exclusive in-person A/V presentation in Fall 2024.
The immersive experience combined live DJing, curated archival visuals, and storytelling to explore the history, origins, and cultural impact of reggaeton. During the presentation, La Gata guided employees through the genre’s underground beginnings, Caribbean roots, and its rise to global influence across music, fashion, and youth culture.
This collaboration marks the first partnership of its kind to merge reggaeton music history education with a major fashion brand, positioning Perreo 101® at the forefront of cultural consulting and music history programming for global companies.
