REGGAETON HISTORIAN LA GATA LAUNCHES PERREO 101 PODCAST, THE FIRST PLATFORM DEDICATED TO REGGAETON HISTORY AND CULTURAL ANALYSIS
Perreo 101® began with a DM. After consistently breaking down reggaeton history on Twitter, a fan of Reggaeton Con La Gata told Katelina “La Gata” Eccleston to stop tweeting her ideas and start recording them. That moment turned into the first reggaeton history podcast—an audio archive built to document the genre beyond headlines and trends.
From debates like Reggaeton vs. Reguetón to deep dives such as Panama vs. PR and Where the Ladies At?, the podcast unpacks reggaeton’s roots, evolution, and contradictions through cultural analysis and storytelling. Featuring voices like DJ Blass, Darell, and Maicol Superstar, Perreo 101® bridges firsthand industry insight with critical perspective.
From Dorm Room to Movement: Elumina Launches Reggaeton Con La Gata
Elumina Media announces the launch of Reggaeton Con La Gata, a femme-centered platform redefining how women are seen, heard, and documented within reggaeton culture. Created by Katelina “La Gata” Eccleston from her dorm room while studying Communications at Marymount Manhattan College, the platform was born out of a clear absence in the digital landscape. While outlets like Rapetón, Alofoke Music, and El Genero Urbano have long dominated the space, none were built by women or designed to center their perspectives.
“I search the internet for Feminine curative presence of Reggaeton and can't find one so I made one,” says Eccleston. “It’s important for women to have a space so that we can share our own perspectives without influence from men, something different especially considering we all know how men can be.”
Positioned at the intersection of culture, media, and storytelling, Reggaeton Con La Gata serves as both platform and movement—amplifying women’s voices and reshaping the narrative of Latin urban music from the inside out.
